Mango Crepe @ SM's Roadhouse Cafe

I’ve tasted the best mango crepe here at Roadhouse Cafe at SM City Davao. Though there are lots of good food here, for dessert - i go for mango crepe. It’s tasteful and one order could be shared by three … one part is good enough to end either a lunch or a dinner in this cozy place. The area is spacious where there is enough space for everybody. Though a public place, a group could dine and at the same time talk serious matters or otherwise. The setting was made in such a way that each table is not that close with each other thus giving a little privacy. Service is also good as well as the courses.
And because i fell in love with the crepe i tried looking for recipe (not from roadhouse cafe) but you can try it and am sharing you this ….
Crepes:
Pack of Magnolia pancake mix (I tried Pillsbury before, they didn’t turn out right)
(Use milk instead of water, and butter instead of oil. Make sure the batter is thinner by adding more milk)
Cream filling:
Mix butter, sugar, and cream in a double boiler until smooth
(Since I was in a hurry, I just cooked everything over low fire using a Teflon flat bottom griddle. Proportion is 1T butter + 2 T sugar + 1/4 cup cream)
Filling; Diced mangoes (make sure these are sweet by smelling the base, where the stem goes. It should smell sweet, not sour. Some mangoes are sweet in spite of the pale or greenish color). You may also use sliced bananas (lakatan variety, again, make sure these are sweet).
Directions:
1. Fry pancakes in a little butter on flat bottom griddle. Make sure to spread out the batter thinly so that it will look and feel like real crepes.
2. Spread a little cream mixture on the crepe.
3. Put as many mangoes as you wish.
4. Fold the crepe.
5. Top with scoop of vanilla ice cream (mango flavor will do).
7. Drizzle with chocolate syrup.
8. Enjoy

Grilled tuna @ Antonio's Grill and Resto Bar

At level 1 of SM City Davao you can find this cozy restaurant that served delectable food from sizzling to grilled menu and many of adult’s favorite - veggies. But what i like most in this resto is the crispy tuna belly and a variety of seafood menu that one can’t resist but eat to their hearts delight.

Another Pinoy favorite is the Bulalo (choice of beef shank) where the Antonio’s carry as one of its specialities. The Bulalo is cooked with rice powder to make the soup thick and tastier as it is packed with spices, vegetable.

Other pinoy dishes they serve are pinakbet, seafood cooked in coconut milk (or the ginataan), beef soup (sabaw na baka na may patola at dahon ng sili), bangus sisig.

The appetizers would be manggang hilaw with bagoong, crispy pusit, kinalaw (tuna).

They served a variety of juices like tamarind (sampaloc) shake, starfruit (balimbing) shake, melonmansi (melon and lemon) shake.

You need not go that far when you are at the mall to eat after that long shopping at SM and if you are here in Davao catch SM’s mallwide sale of up to 50 percent discount on a wide variety of items in time for the Araw ng Dabaw celebration on March 16. Better be hurry and catch the joy of shopping good items at lower cost. I love that too.

Davao museum features WWII Battle of Ising

Government and private companies in Davao pool their resources to showcase the untold story of the Battle of Ising, a decisive battle in the liberation of Mindanao during World War II.
The exhibit will take place at Davao Museum of History and Ethnography at the Davao Insular Village Phase 1 in Lanang this city from March 13 to June 11, 2009.
Among the sponsor is Marco Polo Hotel-Davao where on Wednesday at the Hotel's Club 888 Forum, Armin Lorenzo, controller of Halifax Davao Hotel, Inc. and vice president and financial controller of Marco Polo Davao turned over to Davao Museum Director Sylvia Lorenzana, a check of P150,000 as their donation to the exhibit.
In a factsheet, it stated that the exhibit entitled "The Battle of Ising" will chronicles the seven-day ordeal of the 130th Infantry Regiment of the 107th division of the United States Forces in the Philippines (USFIP) from May 3rd to the 10th of 1945 in their vibrant bid to prevent the Japanese forces from occupying northern Davao and parts of Agusan called "Free Davao".
The exhibit is a product of two-year research in local and foreign archives on the Battle of Ising and substantial first-hand accounts from the 22 living Battle of Ising veterans who were interviewed.
It will also feature the launching of the Battle of Ising catalog written by Marie Sylvia Vallejo, which extensively compiles the documents, images, and interviews related to the historic event.Vallejo as quoted in the factsheet "hopes that the catalog becomes a significant addition to the few existing publications on WW II Mindanao.
She also hopes that the tribute to the 130th Infantry Regiment spark a deep interest to continue the celebration of our forefathers' deeds and research into Mindanao's proud past as it did for me."
The other sponsors of the exhibit are Southern Philippines Foundation for the Arts, Culture and Ecology, Emcor Inc. and the municipality of Carmen, Davao del Norte. Inquiries may be directed to the Davao Museum with telephone numbes (082) 233-1734.
